20世纪60年代末，左翼暴动席卷香港，局势动荡。 从乡下来到大都市小玉（张曼玉 饰）是一个苦不见出头的小演员，为了金钱为了上位，真可谓不惜一切代价。在某导演的帮助下，小玉搬入一栋新公寓，偶然机会认识了住在天台的阿恭（钟镇涛 饰）。穷困潦倒的阿恭白天是一名白牌出租车司机，晚上则成为阔太太的性伴侣。两个畸零人从最初的轻视和憎恨，最终走到了一起。他们努力赚钱，经营生活，但动乱的局势仍将他们微小的幸福一次次击碎…… 本片荣获1990年香港金像奖最佳女主角（张曼玉）、最佳艺术指导和最佳剧本三项大奖。。Written by the director himself, the story revolves around an “absent” hero: an astronaut lost in the emptiness of space. His absence is spoken about indirectly here, from planet Earth. He was the nation’s son, loved and admired by all. But he’s primarily always on the mind of his little sister Elsa, who’s the real “fully present” heroine in this story. Elsa has lived her life ...。A naive university student, Evangeline, is brutalized by a gang of thrill seeking killers. Left to die in the forest, she is 'saved' by an ancient demon spirit. The spirit empowers Evangeline with a blood-lust for vengeance. Evangeline must make a choice, is she willing to sacrifice her own soul...。
