父亲教授中国传统的书画艺术，他希望这门艺术能在儿子这一辈得到传承，可儿子选择了化妆师职业，由于观念上的分歧，父子二人常年存在隔阂。退休后的父亲本想陪着老伴平静地度过晚年，但是老伴突发的疾病让老两口措手不及，老两口在是否让儿子放弃梦想回来照顾自己的问题上产生了分歧，病情的加重使老两口日渐艰难，经济上的拮据让他们雪上加霜、被逼入绝境。得知母亲重病，儿子回到家中照顾母亲。过程中父子二人关系稍有缓和，但由于家里负担不起救治费用，加上病情太重，母亲还是离开了。母亲去世后，父亲终于理解了儿子，儿子也明白了珍惜眼前的亲情。但最终，儿子却在一场车祸中丧生。。Will & Grace are best friends.
