中国自十九世纪中叶，被外国强列的坚船利炮打开闭关自守的大门后，逐渐沦为成半殖民地半封建社会。期间无数有名或无名的英雄好汉舍生忘死，甚至牺牲性命，或是除暴安良，或是抗敌救国，演绎出各种英雄事迹。。Photographer Greg Nolan meets Bernice, and loses both his job and his apartment. However, Bernice manages to get him a new apartment, but it is so expensive that he has to get two full-time jobs. Nolan has trouble finding time to do them both without his bosses finding out.。
