物語は閑静な住宅街にある赤い屋根の家から始まる。18年前、この家で両親を殺害し遺体を切り刻んだのは、実の娘の青田彩也子と、その恋人・大渕秀行だった。大渕は裁判中に「早すぎた自叙伝」を出版し、過去に女子児童を手に掛けたことを告白する。裁判では彼に洗脳された彩也子が凶行に及んだとされ、主犯の大渕は死刑、彩也子は無期懲役が確定。それから数年後、「早すぎた自叙伝」を担当した編集者・橋本涼のもとに、新人作家の小椋沙奈が、事件をモチーフにした小説の企画を持ち込む。小説の連載を実現すべく、大渕と獄中結婚した大渕礼子や、大渕のかつての愛人である元敏腕編集者・市川聖子ら関係者への取材を進める橋本と沙奈。しかし2人はやがて、関係者が抱える嫉妬や劣等感などの黒い感情に引きずり込まれていく。。This is the gripping and emotionally charged story of Tyke, a circus elephant that went on a rampage in Honolulu in 1994, killed her trainer in front of thousands of spectators and died in a hail of gunfire.
