一名痴迷下棋的社会最底层小人物在受到残酷拷问时咬舌自尽，老虎探长钟朗和搭档康华生、于胜男协同展开调查，发现死者生前曾多次出入公共租界的英国威斯汀银行。此人似乎在该银行号称全上海最安全的保险箱存了重要东西。钟朗和胜男伪装身份前往银行调查，谁知竟遭遇一伙银行劫匪，胜男更成为他们的人质。为保护胜男，钟朗缴械向劫匪投降。与此同时，华生和洪小雅一组终于查到棋迷的真实身份，由此得知此人所背负的重大使命，更由此将该案与银行劫案联系在一起。时间一分一秒地流逝，钟朗和胜男的生命受到最大的考验……。这是一个17岁的天才少年追逐梦想的故事，更是一次应试教育与素质教育的博弈。。Ricky is the hottest water-ski instructor around and he has just be rehired by his former employer/camp to whip up attendance.
