该剧讲述了在1945年夏末，曾猖狂一时的日本侵略军已成秋后蚂蚱，但不甘失败的军国主义分子准备使用细菌武器，中共地下工作者就此在古老的省城展开一场斗智斗勇的战斗的故事。。An inept gang of bank robbers, led by George The Brain, are caught and sentenced to 15 years hard labour each. When they are released from prison they start out to collect the money they had stolen and which George had hidden in a hollow tree during the chase in which they were caught.
