清朝末年，内务府继大人（雷格生饰）之子福琪（李成儒饰）看上了街头卖艺的少女奎俊（刘敏涛饰），奎俊不从，福琪便设计陷害。大太监吴德贵（马恩然饰）得知后从中弄权，将奎俊抢占为妻。奎俊爱慕来京逃难的冯青山（于震饰），而冯青山则在无意中陷入了一场王家贵族之间的纷争。而一副古画和一个翡翠蝈蝈的出现，更使故事陷入了重重危机……。An artist (Lon Chaney Jr) is blinded by a jealous assistant/model. His fiance's father generously offers his eyes for a sight restoring operation. there's only one hitch. Chaney has to wait until after the man dies. Not surprisingly, when the benefactor dies a very premature death, suspicion falls on the artist.。
