江玫的酒店冷冷清清，一个食客都没有，这时一个老外――美国失业青年杰克被“口吕品”的店名所吸引进入酒店，被周丽误当成“大款”狠“宰”一刀，杰克无钱结帐，自愿留在店中打工“以身抵债”，有老外端盘子的“口吕品”顿时食客盈门，大“火”起来，正在江玫、周丽高兴时，刘星派公关经理凌小姐“挖”走了杰克，但杰克狠狠地敲了刘星一竹杠，回到了“口吕品”，原来他已经爱上了美丽聪颖的江玫，并和江玫、周丽一起开始了“出租老外”的业务，不甘心的刘星为他们设置了一道道的障碍，反而促成了“出租老外”的业务和杰克与江玫的情感发展。。戴顾东（夏雨饰）经营的茶餐厅受金融风暴牵连陷入财困，急需资金周转，不知内情的叶慕升（许绍雄饰）觊觎茶餐厅的铺位主动入股，顾东暂得援兵便埋头研制新菜式，谁料新请回来的散工崔喜喜（商天娥饰）炒了一碟蛋炒饭，深受米芝莲代表赏识，顾东对她宠爱有加。 一天，银行代表利蓉姿（伍咏薇饰）突然出现，喜喜因迷债事件与她大打出手，喜喜受伤失忆，顾东为保米芝莲星级声誉，安排所有人假装为喜喜的家人，自己是喜喜的大哥，慕升是丈夫，儿子是大提琴教师叶积良（陈键锋饰），就连女儿戴莹莉（唐诗咏饰）也被迫由积良的女朋友变做表妹，关系乱七八糟，惹来连番笑话……麻烦事一浪接一浪，被银行辞退的蓉姿突然声称自己是茶餐厅的股东，要为茶餐厅作大改革；一家本来平凡不过的港式茶餐厅，突然三权分立，人人各怀鬼胎……。SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。
