20世纪50年代僻静的家乡小镇，中年男子加德纳的妻子在家中被杀害。由此宁静的生活被打破，引发出一连串勒索、骗保、迷情事件。而对面邻居搬来了一家黑人，又因此打破了整个小镇的宁静。家庭危机和小镇危机交织在了一起……。漂亮的夕子与丈夫决裂，为了躲避丈夫的骚扰，租了寅次郎在老家柴又的房间暂住，不料寅次郎突然回家。天生浪漫的寅次郎见到夕子，自是神魂颠倒，不断借故搭讪。但好景不长，夕子的丈夫回心转意，低声下气向夕子求饶，最后把妻子接回家。注定做失恋专家的寅次郎又好梦成空，被打回原形！。The title of Miguel Gomes' début film is derived from the expression: 'Until the age of thirty, you have the face that God gave you, after that you have the face you deserve.'
