大学生墨寒在去做公益的前一天，父母离婚大战爆发，女友也悄悄离去……墨寒随志愿小组终于到达志愿目的地——一偏僻山村，可村民们并不领情，墨寒与学生们终于在大河之上建起了一座便民桥，却被洪水冲毁，同学们失望地离去。想回家的墨寒却意外得知父亲公司破产，母亲离开了家。无家可归的墨寒只好留在了村子，他写信给女友，没想到，收信的却是一位流浪歌手，在两人书信的不断交流中，互相找到了人生的方向和自我。。斯通（尼古拉斯·凯奇 Nicolas Cage 饰）和沃特斯（伊利亚·伍德 Elijah Wood 饰）是两名默默无闻的警员，他们整天做着无聊的行政工作，靠贩卖公务员考试信息赚取外快。当斯通听说一名海洛因贩子付了一笔很高的保释金后，这两位好友便打起了这笔现金的主意。 费尽一番心血后，他们跟着一条线索找到了藏在小杂货店冷冻室里面的保险库，他们计划抢了这个保险库，瓜分里面的一切。但等到他们弄清楚保险库里的所藏之物时，一切为时已晚......。A strange man comes into a house with only the wife.
