A group of students who are participating in a university's summer science camp are drawn into an incredible quagmire of conflicts, ranging from the relatively simple conflict between an engaging and forthright young teacher and his older manipulative colleague, to a contest pitting political correctness against free scientific inquiry. Despite the murkiness of some of the issues in the latter conflict, the students pitch in enthusiastically on what they believe to be the side of righteousness, and passions rise to fever pitch. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide。影片讲述了一位警官在意外撞死小孩之后如何对待自己的罪行的事件，尤其表现了他在法律与道德的界限之间犹豫挣扎的过程。 事发当天，警官谢尔盖·索博列夫开车去医院看望即将生产的妻子。由于车速过快，他撞倒了一个路边玩耍的男孩，男孩当场死亡。慌乱之间，索博列夫打电话向警局的朋友求助，于是全局上下都替他包庇罪行，造假证据，杀人灭口。随着这个案子的进展，索博列夫逐渐明白了自己的懦弱导致了许多无辜者的死亡。为了避免事件继续恶化，索博列夫试图弥补犯下的过错，然而现在挽救已为时太晚，他不得不为此与整个局势作斗争……。刘雅历（林子祥 饰）与朱丽娥（郑裕玲 饰）结为了夫妻，与女儿慧敏（周慧敏 饰）一起开始了新的生活。但没想到新生活将迎接挫折——某银行突然倒闭了，雅历所在的广告公司也破产了。面临事业的雅历感到非常沮丧难过，为新生活蒙上了阴霾。 生活还是要继续的，慧敏与丽娥担当起了养活家庭的责任。可是这样以来便令雅历的心理承受着巨大的压力，家人之间的感情也渐渐变淡。 慧敏跟旧同学一起做金融投资，一向聪明的雅历发现了当中的疑点，怀疑是旧同学骗取慧敏及他人的钱财……。
