天佑（梁朝伟饰）自幼就失去了父母，在福利院里长大。成年之后，放不下自己的身世的他决定前往出生地香港。来到香港后的天佑结识了退休医生冯宗，他进入了冯宗家里做帮佣，而王家人的出现则让天佑第一次感受到了家庭给他带来的温暖，不仅如此，王家的女儿王阿香（卢敏仪饰）和天佑之间碰撞出了激情的火花，只可惜两人碍于身份无能走到一起。 抚养天佑长大的康修女（李司棋饰）最终还是向天佑坦白了他的身世，原来，冯宗的儿子冯约礼（谢贤饰）正是天佑的亲生父亲，从前，康修女爱上了冯约礼，而她的好友容晓梅（曾庆瑜饰）亦同时爱上冯约礼，最终，荣晓梅和冯约礼有了孩子，那就是天佑。。A story tells about five students and their professor from Kyiv archaelogical Institute.
