王初四（陈松伶饰）自幼生长在渔村，为反抗土豪逼婚，遂相约青梅行马恋人曾牛（林利饰）私奔，不料中途发生变故，初四误以为牛已罹难，只好只身来到上海谋生。期间，幸得卖糖女郎李小翠（陈佩珊饰）收容，暂栖于天台木屋中，认识了李大婶（卢宛茵饰）、赵少奇（莫镇贤饰）等好友，未几更与画家杜梓枫（郑伊健饰）坠入爱河。 其后，初四偶然投身影坛，更名为王云裳，以歌艺轰动上海。此际，牛突然现身，初四惊讶不已，既难忘往日之情，又不舍身边所爱，顿感一片迷惘。然而，最苦恼的却是，这时初四又被诬陷进一宗官非之中，似乎难脱牢狱之灾……。该剧讲述一个跨越海峡两岸的中国大家庭三代人的恩怨和纠葛，从骨肉分离彼此隔膜，到合家团圆、美满和睦的曲折故事。。Fleeing from the twin horrors of prospective marriage and the baleful Aunt Agatha, Bertie sails to New York with Jeeves, where he hopes to lie low but instead he is charged with minding the ultra-shy mother's boy Wilmot, son of Lady Malvern, and showing him the high life.
