本作は弁護士・神楽蘭が謎の天才脚本家・黒澤仁の力を借りて、現代社会の闇を暴くリーガルミステリー。蘭は親友を冤罪で殺人犯にしてしまい、現在は法律の世界から離れていた。1年後、彼女と同姓同名のリーガルエッセイがネット上に掲載され、“敗けを知らない敏腕弁護士”として祭り上げられる。欄はそのエッセイの作者である黒澤が書く台本の力を借り、親友の冤罪を晴らすために弁護士活動を再開する。。Karen never planned on being a hero. A recent widow, she has her hands full with work and parenting her son Max. Then Karen saves Jeremy's life during a drug store robbery, and quickly discovers that the young man is intent on paying her back at any cost. At first, life starts improving for this good Samaritan, but as Jeremy's efforts become more extreme, Karen starts to wonder...。
