Asking help from a doctor ...。浙江人才臣与陕西人燕赤霞邂逅于金华一古庙。夜深，一女子携金元宝忽至才臣床边要与其同床共枕，才臣驱走女子并扔出所留金元宝。次日，后东厢兰陵书生主仆二人莫名暴毙。原来此女叫聂小倩，是一位早年夭亡的少女，尸骨埋于庙旁，夜间以夜叉面目出现，并以色相和金钱引诱生人而食。小倩不忍加害才臣，嘱咐才臣与燕生同眠避祸，日后将其尸骨挖出归葬。燕赤霞乃一炼剑侠士，在夜里他施术击伤一破窗而入的鬼物。才臣不负小倩之托将其尸骨带回重葬，前脚到家，小倩不期而至，母亲对这个来路不明的少女心生疑惑。。
